The MX-Academy team is made up of professional coaches – experienced motocross riders and pros who support you from your very first metre on the bike through to regular training. Everyone rides Honda CRF bikes.

Ride with the MX-Academy team and you are never on your own on the track. During coaching, professional coaches are at your side; the team is made up of experienced motocross riders and pros. The coaches show you the basic techniques, watch you as you ride and give you concrete tips and tricks in every break. Motocross is an anaerobic workout for the body, so plenty of breaks are built in – and it is precisely during these breaks that you learn a great deal.
On your first course, coaching is compulsory for everyone. That applies to children just as much as to adults: the youngest participants are around 4 years old, the oldest 74. For the little ones and for beginners, there is a separate kids' and beginners' track on the site. A driving licence plays no role, as training takes place on private grounds.

The coaches build each riding technique on the one before. The foundation is the basic standing technique; only once it is solid do more demanding elements such as jumps come in. Anyone who tries to jump before the basics are right takes an unnecessary risk. That is why your riding ability decides which exercise comes next – not your courage.
Even with typical problems, the coaches look at technique first. One example is arm pump, meaning pumped-up, powerless forearms. In beginners, the cause usually lies in a wrong position: if you steer the bike with your legs, your arms no longer have to cling on. Only once the technique is right do the coaches take a closer look at suspension, strength training and nutrition.

Chris Möckli, founder and owner, two-time European champion IMBA Openclass (2004 and 2005), stands behind MX-Academy AG in Schlatt TG. IMBA, founded in 1954, runs its own motocross European championship; his titles are listed on the page about the MX-Academy Honda racing team. The idea behind it: beginners should be able to try motocross under guidance and rent all the equipment, while hobby riders, advanced riders and young talent receive ongoing support. By its own description, the MX-Academy is today Europe's largest motocross school and enduro school.
Training takes place on a facility listed in NASAK, the National Sports Facilities Concept in the federal inventory of Swiss Olympics. It comprises 4 motocross tracks. At the off-road school, the team has relied on Honda for a decade: the rental bikes are Honda CRF, from the CRF50 for the little ones to the CRF250 for teenagers and adults. The Honda Motoshop at the meeting point is also part of the MX-Academy.
Many start with a motocross taster course and quickly realise they want more. Anyone who wants to learn the technique regularly and more intensively then carries on training in the motocross team, on their own bike of any make or on a rental bike. Young riders with talent, an iron will and enough dedication to training can make the step into the MX-Academy's Honda racing team, which competes in the national championships of the SAM and FMS federations.
Course days start at the MX-Academy Shop, Hauptstrasse 8, Schlatt TG. That is where the MX-Academy team welcomes you: registration, collecting your gear, a detailed theory session – then it's out onto the track with the coaches. From Singen it takes about 30 minutes by car, from Konstanz about 45 minutes, from Stuttgart about 2 hours and from Bregenz about 1 hr 35 min.
For a longer journey, a full day course is the best choice. Your track time is 3.5 hours on Wednesday and 4 hours on Saturday, breaks and instruction included; in total you spend 6 to 8 hours at the MX-Academy. Wednesday costs €390 (CHF 360) with a rental bike, protective gear and coaching, Saturday €444 (CHF 410) (non-binding).

No. Coaching is compulsory for first-time participants, and because riding takes place on private grounds, you do not need a driving licence.
Yes. That is what the motocross team is for: there you keep practising regularly, either on your own bike or on a rental bike.
