Day courses Wed & Sat · ages 4 to 74
On the MX-Academy's motocross course, you ride with no previous experience and no driving licence: Honda rental bike, protective gear and coaching are included. Riding is in groups by ability, from pulling away for the first time to jumping technique.

Motocross, Enduro and Motorcycle Course
A motocross course at the MX-Academy is open to everyone between the ages of 4 and 74. You need neither experience nor a driving licence, because the courses take place on private grounds. Most people sit on a motocross bike for the first time on the course day, while others have been riding for a long time and want to improve in a targeted way. So that both get their money's worth, the coaches divide participants into groups by age and ability. Each group rides at its own pace and on the track that suits it.
Coaching is compulsory on your first visit to the MX-Academy – regardless of how much experience you already have. Alongside beginner models, the rental bikes also include competition bikes weighing a good 100 kg with around 40 hp, and you need to know how to handle them. A coach personally accompanies beginners until they ride on their own. For newcomers, this support is a fixed part of the course.
The motocross courses take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On Wednesday you get 3.5 hours of track time, on Saturday 4 hours, each including breaks and instruction. The breaks are a fixed part of the concept, because motocross is one of the anaerobic sports. After a few laps you need to recover, and the coaches use exactly these moments to give you tips for the next lap. With registration, theory and putting on your gear, a course day fills 6 to 8 hours.
You come either with rental or with your own gear. With rental, the bike, protective gear, coaching and basic course costs are included, and on Saturday you can also book catering. The lower price with your own bike only applies to those who can already ride on their own; if you can't yet, you pay extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) on top (non-binding). Travel to and from the course and crash damage are not included.

Every course begins with a detailed theory session. After that, you work your way into riding technique lap by lap and get to know how the motorcycle handles. The basic techniques come first: basic posture, balance and precise operation of all the controls. These form the foundation on which cornering technique, jumps and ruts are built later. You get faster through clean technique, never through more strength or more risk.
The MX-Academy describes itself as Europe's largest motocross and enduro school. It was founded by Chris Möckli, two-time European champion. An enduro course builds on the same basic techniques that you learn on the motocross tracks, followed by the enduro-specific exercises. Advanced riders with their own bike train on Thursdays in enduro training for advanced riders for €206 (CHF 190) (non-binding). If you want to experience motocross like a camp over several days, simply book several course days in the motocross events calendar.

All courses start at the MX-Academy Shop, Hauptstrasse 8, 8252 Schlatt TG. By car, you can get there in around 2 hrs (172 km) from Stuttgart, around 2 hrs 30 min (219 km) from Karlsruhe and around 3 hrs 5 min (280 km) from Mannheim, in each case calculated without traffic. By public transport, take bus 847 for the last stretch, which brings you to the “Schlatt TG, Mettschlatt” stop, just around 70 m from the shop.
Over this distance, the full course day is worthwhile. For a single hour on the track, the journey would simply be too far. With rental, Wednesday costs €390 (CHF 360), Saturday €444 (CHF 410) and Saturday with catering €471 (CHF 435). All prices are non-binding and subject to change. If you are coming from further away, it is best to choose Saturday and arrive the day before.
Meeting point and sat-nav address: the MX-Academy Shop, Hauptstrasse 8, Schlatt TG.
At the shop reception you sign in for your course day.
You get a helmet, goggles, chest protector, knee guards, boots and gloves in your size – and a Honda CRF that suits you.
Before you start, the coaches calmly explain how riding off-road works.
On the track, riding and breaks alternate – with more tips and tricks from the coaches.
3.5 hrs track time incl. breaks and instruction
4 hrs track time incl. breaks and instruction
A course day lasts 6–8 hours in total, including registration, gear and theory. The hours shown are the available track time including the breaks and instruction you need, not pure time in the saddle: motocross is anaerobic, breaks are part of it – and that is exactly when the coaches give you more tips and tricks. For teenagers and adults, each of these days is the recommended taster course, because it gives you a real impression of the sport and shows your progress. Kids, teenagers, women and adults all pay the same; the only difference is whether you rent or bring your own gear. With rental: a Honda bike in your size, protective gear, coaching and basic course costs. With your own gear: coaching, track hire and basic course – provided you can already ride on your own, otherwise extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) is added.
