Enduro Training and Enduro Courses

Is this right for you?

Yes, if …

  • you already ride your own enduro and want to improve your technique in a targeted way
  • you want to practise hard enduro passages such as tree trunks or high banked turns
  • you prefer to train in a group with similar riding ability
  • you want to combine theory and practice in a single course day

A better fit …

Enduro courses in ability groups instead of a one-size-fits-all programme

In enduro training at the MX-Academy, the coaches divide all participants into groups according to their riding ability. That way each group gets exercises that challenge but do not overwhelm them. Several enduro obstacle courses with different levels of difficulty are ready on the grounds, and the right selection is made for each group. You can take part with any enduro bike, no matter which brand your enduro is.

Every course day combines theory and practice. First the coaches explain what matters in a technique, then you put it into practice on the obstacle courses. Breaks are a fixed part of the day, because riding off-road is strenuous, and it is precisely during these breaks that you get the next tips. For the whole day, allow 6–8 hours, including registration, theory and preparation.

Hard enduro training: sections for advanced riders

Once you have mastered the basics, you move on to the hard enduro sections, which are aimed at advanced enduro riders. There, obstacles await where balance, throttle control and body position all have to be right at the same time. As with every exercise, the coaches first explain the technique before you set off. On the training grounds in Schlatt TG you practise, among other things:

  • riding over tree trunks
  • steep climbs and descents
  • high banked turns
  • staircase technique over wooden beams
  • balance exercises and bike control

Enduro course on Thursday: your own bike, your own gear

Enduro training for advanced riders takes place on Thursday. For it, you come with your own enduro bike and your own gear; coaching from experienced coaches, track hire and the basic course are included in the price of €206 (CHF 190) (non-binding). On this day you have 3.5 hours of available track time including the breaks and instruction you need. On Thursday, too, training takes place in groups by riding ability, with various obstacle courses and exercises specially for enduro riders.

Your own enduro is also welcome on the course days on Wednesday and Saturday. If you come as a group, each person needs their own ticket, filled in with all the details. The motocross events calendar of the MX-Academy shows you which dates are still available; there you choose the date and group and sign up straight away.

Why basic techniques count in enduro training

Whether enduro or motocross: the physics stay the same, and everything advanced grows out of the basic techniques. If you have position and balance as well as throttle, clutch and brakes cleanly under control, you get faster, and special techniques cost you less effort. That is why even the top riders of the MX-Academy practise this foundation again and again. It is no coincidence that many strong enduro riders come from motocross.

Advanced techniques need regular practice; a single course day is not enough for that. Anyone who wants to keep at it joins the motocross and enduro club that belongs to the MX-Academy and trains there with like-minded riders. If you are still right at the beginning, you will find the right start under Learn enduro riding.

Enduro training from Germany and Austria: driving times

Every course day starts at the MX-Academy shop, Hauptstrasse 8 in Schlatt TG. By car, allow about 1 hr 40 min from Freiburg, about 2 hrs from Stuttgart, about 3 hrs 20 min from Munich and about 1 hr 35 min from Bregenz. With these distances a full course day is worthwhile, so that the journey is in good proportion to the time on the track. If you come from Frankfurt (about 3 hrs 45 min), it is best to arrive the day before.
