Four motocross tracks at one training facility

Together, the MX-Academy's motocross tracks form a whole site with four areas: a kids' and beginners' track, a track for intermediate riders, a black track for experienced riders and a training area. Different surfaces are built in so that you get to know different track conditions. This means you can train everything at a single facility, from pulling away for the first time to a demanding lap.

There is a separate section of track for enduro, as well as areas for jump training and freestyle motocross. This makes the facility suitable for newcomers as well as enduro riders and pros. Swiss Olympics lists the training facility in the federal inventory of NASAK, the National Sports Facilities Concept. For you, this means you train at an officially registered motocross facility that is set up for courses at every level.

Motocross track for beginners and kids

If you are just starting out, you do not begin on the most difficult track. For newcomers there is the separate kids' and beginners' track, where the first laps can be ridden in peace. On course days, children only ride the parts of the track they have already mastered. The coaches stay with beginners until they ride on their own, and only once the basic techniques are secure do they move on to a more demanding track.

Most of the MX-Academy's tracks are not open to the public and are only used in the courses. During the courses, the grounds belong entirely to the MX-Academy. This creates a safe environment for children, newcomers and hobby riders who want to improve their technique without riding among much faster riders. You can rent a motocross bike and protective gear for every course day.

Why every MX track has its own level of difficulty

In motocross, the right level of difficulty is crucial: you should be challenged, but never overwhelmed. Anyone who gets onto sections that are too hard too early takes unnecessary risks and learns less. On public tracks in Switzerland, all age and ability groups ride together, including quads and sidecars. That is not an ideal environment for a first lap. During the courses on the MX-Academy's motocross tracks, on the other hand, only course participants are on the grounds.

That is why the MX-Academy spreads its groups across different tracks and trains each group where it belongs. This way every rider finds a suitable level of difficulty, from children and newcomers to intermediate riders. Riding technique always comes first: you get faster through balance and timing, not through more courage.

Where the motocross tracks are and travelling from Germany and Austria

Every course starts at the MX-Academy Shop, Hauptstrasse 8, Schlatt TG. The track itself is around 0.9 km away as the crow flies, on Frauenfelderstrasse in the Gishalde area. If you travel by public transport, take bus 847; the “Schlatt TG, Mettschlatt” stop is around 70 m from the shop. So always come to the shop first and not straight to the track, because from there everyone heads to the motocross tracks together.

From Austria, you can reach Schlatt TG by car in around 1 hr 40 min (126 km) from Feldkirch and in around 3 hrs 30 min (281 km) from Innsbruck. From northern Germany it is further: around 8 hrs 10 min (797 km) from Berlin and around 8 hrs 15 min (823 km) from Hamburg, in each case without traffic. Over distances like these, Saturday with 4 hrs of track time is the right choice, ideally arriving the day before.
