You don't have to follow motorsport from the grandstand. At the MX-Academy you ride the Honda motocross bike yourself, with protective gear, a team of professionals and tracks for newcomers and experienced riders alike.

Motorsport
Many people know motorsport from the trackside: jumps, dust, cheering spectators. Sitting behind the handlebars yourself feels completely different. Opportunities to do so are rare, however, because motocross bikes are not road-legal and belong on a closed track. The MX-Academy offers just such a place: private grounds with 4 tracks where you can start without a driving licence and without your own gear.
You don't need any previous experience. The team, all professionals in their field, first introduce newcomers to motorsport in a theory session, and only then do they head out onto the track. If you already have experience, you quickly get going on the track and receive pointers on riding technique, corners and jumps. That way everyone finds their own way into the world of motorsport.

Motorsport on two wheels has many facets. At the MX-Academy you ride motocross, enduro or a dirt bike, just as you like. The bikes are Hondas: for beginners there are the F models, which start at the push of a button and run on fuel injection, and for experienced riders the R series competition bikes. Children can choose from five sizes from CRF50 to CRF150; from their teens, riders sit on the CRF250.
If you have your own bike and protective gear, you are welcome to bring them. With your own gear, the course day costs €163 (CHF 150) on Wednesdays and €195 (CHF 180) on Saturdays (non-binding). This rate requires that you can already ride without help. Otherwise, extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) is added. Especially if you already have motorsport experience, you can use the day to work specifically on your own technique.
The MX-Academy was founded by Chris Möckli, two-time European champion and still its owner today. His aim was to give motorcycle motorsport more space and to offer enthusiasts a place where they can really ride. On the track you are looked after by professional coaches who are experienced motocross riders themselves. All participants are grouped by ability, and newcomers and experienced riders train separately on several tracks.
Motocross is one of the most demanding forms of motorsport. The ground changes from lap to lap, and riders have to keep adapting to it. That is why technique counts for more than courage. Because motocross is anaerobic and quickly tiring, breaks are firmly scheduled, and that is exactly when the coaches pass on more tips and tricks. If you stick with it, you quickly notice how much more confident every lap becomes.

Schlatt TG is on Swiss soil, not far from Singen. By car it takes around 55 minutes from Tuttlingen, around 1 hr each from Villingen-Schwenningen and Rottweil, around 1 hr 15 min from Friedrichshafen, around 3 hrs from Augsburg and around 4 hrs from Nuremberg. If you are travelling that far, it is best to book the full day course rather than a single hour.
The day course gives you 3.5 hrs of track time on Wednesday or 4 hrs on Saturday, including breaks and instruction; in total you are on site for 6 to 8 hours. Including rental bike, protective gear and coaching, you pay €390 (CHF 360) on Wednesday and €444 (CHF 410) on Saturday (non-binding). Available dates are shown in the motocross events calendar. The day starts with check-in at the MX-Academy shop, followed by gear and theory.
Meeting point and sat-nav address: the MX-Academy Shop, Hauptstrasse 8, Schlatt TG.
At the shop reception you sign in for your course day.
You get a helmet, goggles, chest protector, knee guards, boots and gloves in your size – and a Honda CRF that suits you.
Before you start, the coaches calmly explain how riding off-road works.
On the track, riding and breaks alternate – with more tips and tricks from the coaches.
3.5 hrs track time incl. breaks and instruction
4 hrs track time incl. breaks and instruction
A course day lasts 6–8 hours in total, including registration, gear and theory. The hours shown are the available track time including the breaks and instruction you need, not pure time in the saddle: motocross is anaerobic, breaks are part of it – and that is exactly when the coaches give you more tips and tricks. For teenagers and adults, each of these days is the recommended taster course, because it gives you a real impression of the sport and shows your progress. Kids, teenagers, women and adults all pay the same; the only difference is whether you rent or bring your own gear. With rental: a Honda bike in your size, protective gear, coaching and basic course costs. With your own gear: coaching, track hire and basic course – provided you can already ride on your own, otherwise extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) is added.
Euro = guide price based on the ECB reference rate of 23.10.2026 (€1 = 0.9227 CHF), updated daily; courses are priced in CHF. All prices are non-binding and subject to change.

Yes. The MX-Academy rides on private grounds, so no driving licence is needed, and no previous experience either.
Only Hondas: depending on their size, children ride models from CRF50 to CRF150, and from their teens there is the CRF250. Beginners use the F versions, experienced riders the competition bikes (R).
Yes, your own bike and protective gear are welcome. The cheaper rate with your own gear is only available to those who can already ride without help; if you can't yet, you pay €54 (CHF 50) extra for extra coaching (non-binding).
Very: motocross is an anaerobic sport, and your heart rate climbs to 160 to 210. That is why lots of breaks are built into the track time, during which the coaches give tips.
Around 4 hrs by car for 376 km, calculated without traffic. For a journey like that, Saturday is a good choice, and if you like, you can arrive on Friday.
