Motorsport Weekendat theMX-Academy

A motorsport weekend doesn't need a racing calendar: you plan your weekend around the MX-Academy's Saturday course, make use of 4 hours of track time including breaks and, if you have a long way to come, simply arrive on Friday.

Motorsport Weekend

Is this right for you?

Yes, if …

  • You have a long journey and want to make full use of the Saturday
  • You are planning a weekend with friends, family or colleagues
  • You want as much time on the track as possible on the course day
  • You want to book catering for the Saturday at the same time

A better fit …

Motorsport weekend: Saturday belongs to the track

The heart of every motorsport weekend at the MX-Academy is the course day on Saturday. You come to the MX-Academy Shop, register, collect your gear and listen to the detailed theory session. After that you have 4 hours of track time available, breaks included, during which the coaches pass on tips and tricks. All in all, you spend 6 to 8 hours on site – almost the whole day.

Riding takes place in groups by ability, divided into 5 levels of difficulty. Newcomers start with the basic techniques and often ride their first controlled laps on their own after just a short time. Experienced riders deepen their skills with targeted advice. That way, by the end of Saturday you have plenty of laps in your legs and know what you want to work on next time. If you don't want to think about food on Saturday, choose the package with catering for €471 (CHF 435), non-binding.

Weekend with motocross: getting here from all over Germany

A motorsport weekend is especially worthwhile if you come from further away. From Munich it is about 3 hrs 20 min by car, from Frankfurt about 3 hrs 45 min, from Nuremberg about 4 hrs, from Cologne about 5 hrs 20 min and from Düsseldorf about 5 hrs 40 min. From Berlin it is about 8 hrs 10 min, from Hamburg about 8 hrs 15 min. Over distances like these, it's best to set off on Friday and start Saturday well rested.

You can plan the rest of the weekend entirely to your liking. If you keep Sunday quiet, you are doing your body a favour, because motocross is anaerobic and works your arms, legs and core at the same time. If you come without a car, bus 847 stops at “Schlatt TG, Mettschlatt”, about 70 m from the MX-Academy shop.

Motorsport weekend with friends, family or your team

With several of you, the weekend is twice the fun. Children ride along from about age 4, each on a small Honda kids motocross bike, while teenagers and adults ride the CRF250. For beginners there are the Honda F versions, built specifically for getting into off-road riding. While the youngest and the beginners practise on an easier track, the more experienced riders are out on the more demanding tracks – and you meet up again in the breaks.

If you are planning a motorsport weekend with your company or a larger team, the following applies to a corporate event and a team building event: price on request. Individuals, couples and small groups of friends simply choose a Saturday in the motocross events calendar and register there. That way everyone can book for themselves, and you still stand together at the track on the same day.

Packing list for your motorsport weekend

You need surprisingly little to ride. Long trousers and sturdy shoes – that's all you need to pack; you rent protective clothing in sizes from kids to XXL and the Honda motorcycle on site. If you arrive with your own gear, you pay €195 (CHF 180) on Saturday, non-binding, provided you can already ride without help. If not, the extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) is added.

For the course day itself, it pays to arrive well rested. Motocross is physically demanding, and when your condition drops, your reactions and coordination suffer noticeably. So make use of the breaks that are built into the track time, because that is exactly when you gather new strength and fresh tips. In the evening you are happily tired and have plenty to talk about.

  • Long trousers and sturdy shoes
  • A change of clothes for after the course
  • Helmet, goggles and chest protector: available to rent on site
  • Boots, gloves and knee guards: also available to rent
  • Your own bike? Then extra coaching if you don't ride on your own yet

A course day lasts 6–8 hours in total, including registration, gear and theory. The hours shown are the available track time including the breaks and instruction you need, not pure time in the saddle: motocross is anaerobic, breaks are part of it – and that is exactly when the coaches give you more tips and tricks. For teenagers and adults, each of these days is the recommended taster course, because it gives you a real impression of the sport and shows your progress. Kids, teenagers, women and adults all pay the same; the only difference is whether you rent or bring your own gear. With rental: a Honda bike in your size, protective gear, coaching and basic course costs. With your own gear: coaching, track hire and basic course – provided you can already ride on your own, otherwise extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) is added.
