Motocross school just across the border from Singen

The MX-Academy in Schlatt TG is in north-eastern Switzerland, only a few kilometres across the border from Singen: by car it takes about 30 minutes from Singen, about 2 hours from Stuttgart and about 3 hrs 20 min from Munich. You can hire the bike and protective gear on site or bring your own; no driving licence is needed, because all riding takes place on private grounds.

At the MX-Academy, children from age 4 learn just like adults – the oldest participants are 74. If you have never sat on a dirt bike, you first practise with the coaches on the beginners’ track and ride your own laps by the end of the day. The training site is part of the NASAK, the National Sports Facilities Concept, and has 4 tracks, one of them separate for kids.

For everyone travelling far

Motocross day course: ride all day

If you are travelling from abroad, make the most of the whole day: 3.5 hrs of track time on Wednesday and 4 hrs on Saturday, breaks and instruction included. Together with registration, gear and theory, a course day lasts 6–8 hours. Motocross is an anaerobic sport, so plenty of breaks are part of it – that is exactly when the coaches give you their tips. For newcomers this is a thorough taster course, for experienced riders a full training day.

A course day lasts 6–8 hours in total, including registration, gear and theory. The hours shown are the available track time including the breaks and instruction you need, not pure time in the saddle: motocross is anaerobic, breaks are part of it – and that is exactly when the coaches give you more tips and tricks. For teenagers and adults, each of these days is the recommended taster course, because it gives you a real impression of the sport and shows your progress. Kids, teenagers, women and adults all pay the same; the only difference is whether you rent or bring your own gear. With rental: a Honda bike in your size, protective gear, coaching and basic course costs. With your own gear: coaching, track hire and basic course – provided you can already ride on your own, otherwise extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) is added.

€179 (CHF 165)1-hour taster course (track time incl. breaks and instruction) – every other Wednesday, mainly for children aged 4 to 6 who can concentrate for about an hour. Motocross taster course
