An adventure you steer yourself: on a motocross bike you explore corners, crests and climbs with professional coaches – with full protective gear, no driving licence and no previous experience needed.

Adventure on a Motocross Bike
An adventure begins where you do something for the first time. On a motocross bike, that is the moment you twist the throttle for the first time and the bike starts rolling beneath you. After that, lap follows lap: corners, small crests, climbs. With every lap your confidence grows, because you keep learning technique and the coaches show you where there is still more to gain.
This adventure is not a leisurely one. Motocross works your whole body, your heart beats fast, and your thoughts revolve only around line, vision and throttle. That is exactly what puts distance between you and everyday life: as long as you are riding, there is no room for appointments and worries. Fun, adrenaline and a good dose of challenge go together, and in the evening you know exactly what you have achieved.

To make sure the adventure turns into a good experience, every course day starts with a detailed theory session before you ride. On your first visit, coaching is compulsory for everyone. The coaches divide participants into groups by riding ability, with 5 difficulty levels in total. That way nobody rides sections they are not yet skilled enough for, and every step forward comes at the right time.
The rental bikes come from Honda: beginner models of the F version and competition bikes of the R version. Suitable protective clothing is ready in every size, from children's sizes to XXL. From you it only takes two things from your own wardrobe, long trousers and sturdy shoes, plus the desire to dare something. The youngest start on the CRF50, while teenagers and adults ride the CRF250.

An adventure you share brings people closer together. At the MX-Academy children ride from about 4 years old, and the oldest participant so far was 74. Smaller women, children and newcomers get more manageable bikes with less power, and on every course day an easier track awaits, especially for the youngest and for beginners. The whole family can be out on the same day, everyone at their own pace.
Groups of friends and companies also ride together, for example as a team building event or corporate event; for this it is price on request. If you come on your own, you still won't be alone on the track: the groups are formed by ability. That way you quickly find people at your level with whom you get better corner by corner.
The MX-Academy is located in Schlatt TG on the Swiss side, not far from Singen. From Konstanz it takes around 45 minutes by car, from Freiburg around 1 hr 40 min, from Ulm around 2 hrs 20 min and from Kempten around 2 hrs 25 min. From Vorarlberg, allow around 1 hr 35 min from Bregenz. For journeys like these the full day course is worthwhile: 3.5 hrs of track time on Wednesday or 4 hrs on Saturday, breaks included.
The taster course with 1 hr of track time is more suited to children between 4 and 6, who are often tired afterwards. From the teenage years on, more track time is worthwhile, and the MX-Academy recommends this too: only then do you really feel how you improve from lap to lap. With rental, the day course costs €390 (CHF 360) on Wednesday and €444 (CHF 410) on Saturday, non-binding.
Meeting point and sat-nav address: the MX-Academy Shop, Hauptstrasse 8, Schlatt TG.
At the shop reception you sign in for your course day.
You get a helmet, goggles, chest protector, knee guards, boots and gloves in your size – and a Honda CRF that suits you.
Before you start, the coaches calmly explain how riding off-road works.
On the track, riding and breaks alternate – with more tips and tricks from the coaches.
3.5 hrs track time incl. breaks and instruction
4 hrs track time incl. breaks and instruction
A course day lasts 6–8 hours in total, including registration, gear and theory. The hours shown are the available track time including the breaks and instruction you need, not pure time in the saddle: motocross is anaerobic, breaks are part of it – and that is exactly when the coaches give you more tips and tricks. For teenagers and adults, each of these days is the recommended taster course, because it gives you a real impression of the sport and shows your progress. Kids, teenagers, women and adults all pay the same; the only difference is whether you rent or bring your own gear. With rental: a Honda bike in your size, protective gear, coaching and basic course costs. With your own gear: coaching, track hire and basic course – provided you can already ride on your own, otherwise extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) is added.
Euro = guide price based on the ECB reference rate of 23.10.2026 (€1 = 0.9227 CHF), updated daily; courses are priced in CHF. All prices are non-binding and subject to change.
