Honda CRF50 to CRF250 · gear up to XXL
Motocross bike rental without your own gear: at the MX-Academy, you hire a Honda motorbike and full protective gear right on the course day. Coaches, track and theory are included, and you don't need a driving licence.

Motocross Bike Rental
Motocross bike rental works on every course day at the MX-Academy: you get a suitable motocross bike and can book the protective gear at the same time. You ride Honda CRF bikes: for kids there are the CRF50, CRF70, CRF110, CRF125 and CRF150, for teenagers and adults the CRF250. The rental range includes beginner models of the F version as well as competition bikes of the R version. The rental bikes are replaced with new ones every year, so you always ride up-to-date bikes.
The rental gear comes in sizes from children's to XXL, so small children are just as well protected as tall adults. All you need to bring yourself is long trousers and sturdy footwear. Everything is fitted on site before the theory begins and you then head out onto the track. The rental package includes:

With the rental bike, fuel and normal wear and tear are covered, and the team on site also takes care of set-up and maintenance. Crash damage is not included. In the package with rental, you pay €390 (CHF 360) on Wednesday and €444 (CHF 410) on Saturday, each with protective gear, coaching and basic course costs (non-binding). The same price applies to kids, teenagers, women and men; the only thing that matters is whether you take a rental bike or bring your own bike.
However, renting a bike alone is not enough, because without the necessary technique the sport can be dangerous. That is why every beginner has a coach at their side until they can ride independently. Anyone visiting the MX-Academy for the first time always rides with coaching. The goal is clear: learning to ride fast through riding technique, not through strength or a willingness to take risks, which sooner or later lead to a crash.

With the rental bike, four tracks are open to you on the grounds, from the area for kids and beginners to the track for advanced riders and the track for pro riders who have already mastered all the basic techniques. So you always ride on the track that matches your ability and don't have to measure yourself against faster riders. The grounds are part of the NASAK federal inventory of Swiss Olympics.
If you enjoy the sport after the first day, you can rent a motocross bike again on every further course day or buy a motocross bike of your own later. If you already have a motorbike and only want to hire the gear at first, you can also book the protective gear separately. If you want to train regularly, the Motocross team of the MX-Academy is the next step. You can get your own gear, even on a smaller budget, in the MX-Academy motocross shop.

If you choose motocross bike rental, you travel without a trailer and without your own motorbike. That makes a longer journey more relaxed, too. By car, you reach the MX-Academy from Waldshut-Tiengen in around 1 hr (45 km), from Villingen-Schwenningen in around 1 hr (60 km), from Rottweil in around 1 hr (81 km) and from Freiburg in around 1 hr 40 min (100 km), calculated without traffic. Without a car, take bus 847 to “Schlatt TG, Mettschlatt”; from there it is around 70 m to the MX-Academy Shop.
With this journey, you get much more out of a whole course day than out of a single hour. For children aged 4 to 6, the taster hour with 1 hr of track time is enough; for everyone else, the MX-Academy recommends 3.5 or 4 hours. Including registration, theory and fitting the gear, allow 6 to 8 hours on site. You can book directly via the Motocross events calendar.
Meeting point and sat-nav address: the MX-Academy Shop, Hauptstrasse 8, Schlatt TG.
At the shop reception you sign in for your course day.
You get a helmet, goggles, chest protector, knee guards, boots and gloves in your size – and a Honda CRF that suits you.
Before you start, the coaches calmly explain how riding off-road works.
On the track, riding and breaks alternate – with more tips and tricks from the coaches.
3.5 hrs track time incl. breaks and instruction
4 hrs track time incl. breaks and instruction
A course day lasts 6–8 hours in total, including registration, gear and theory. The hours shown are the available track time including the breaks and instruction you need, not pure time in the saddle: motocross is anaerobic, breaks are part of it – and that is exactly when the coaches give you more tips and tricks. For teenagers and adults, each of these days is the recommended taster course, because it gives you a real impression of the sport and shows your progress. Kids, teenagers, women and adults all pay the same; the only difference is whether you rent or bring your own gear. With rental: a Honda bike in your size, protective gear, coaching and basic course costs. With your own gear: coaching, track hire and basic course – provided you can already ride on your own, otherwise extra coaching for €54 (CHF 50) is added.
Euro = guide price based on the ECB reference rate of 23.10.2026 (€1 = 0.9227 CHF), updated daily; courses are priced in CHF. All prices are non-binding and subject to change.

Crash damage and the journey there and back are not included. Fuel, normal wear and tear and setting up the bike, on the other hand, are taken care of by the MX-Academy.
From Rottweil it is around 1 hr by car, from Freiburg around 1 hr 40 min to Schlatt TG. There you hire the bike and gear directly on the course day.
